How to be spiritually fruitful (The parable of the sower and the seed)

 THE SOWER AND THE SEED

In a article that I read on google I was stunned to see that 55% of those who attends church at least once a month have not had a born again experience and 70% of people who grew up in church leave church by their 20s. Reading this I was reminded of the parable of the sower and the seed that Jesus taught in Luke 8:4-15. He says  a sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Some fell on rock; and as soon of it sprang up it withered away because lack of moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and chocked it. But others fell on good ground, sprang up and yielded a crop hundred fold. When He had said these things he cried. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. I believe that Jesus cried because He was faced with the alarming truth that many will come to the faith but not many will continue on in it. The parable explains our hearts and how we respond to the word of God. However we respond to the word of God it shows How committed we are to Him and carrying out His word. Given the four examples in the parable I want to help you become spiritually mature so that you can produce hundred fold fruit in your life.

Four types of heart towards the word of God

1.) A hardened heart.
Those who fell by the wayside are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out their hearts unless they believe and be saved Luke 8:12. This is a example of a unbeliever whos heart may be hardened by sin. Some one may tell them about the word but because of the sin in their live they are not receptive to it. They may hear and don't fully understand it so they let go. Perhaps they feel like God is not real because their life experiences has made them bitter and angry. Is important to know that we all experience unfair things in life; However God is our savior and our Redeemer who gives us a new life and when we are face with challenges He also gives us the strength to endure. I encourage you to invite God in your life and ask Him to reveal himself to you. Purchase a bible and began to read His word so that you can know Him for yourself. God loves you more than you'll ever know but you have to give him a chance.

2.) A rocky heart.
The ones on the rock are the ones when they hear they receive the word with joy; and these have no roots, who believe for a while and in time of temptation the fall away Luke 8:13. This is an example of someone who may hear the word and get all excited in that moment but the moment they are tested the fall away. Its important to note that our Christian walk isn't a emotional experience. We have our high moments and we have our low moments but during time of testing we have to learn How to endure. This is why its so important that we develop a relationship with God and spend time in His word daily mediating on his scriptures day and night so in times of testing we will be able to stand on His word. James chapter 1: 2-3 says count it all joy when you fall into various trails, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

3.) A heart of riches.
Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are chocked with the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity Luke8:14.  Its impossible for you to bear fruit if you are consumed with the riches and care of this world. Those things can become idols in your life and it takes the place of God. Matthew 6:33 says seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and everything else will be added unto you. This mean that if you seek God first you wouldn't have to seek after riches it will seek after you. Its important to examine your heart and make sure that your motives are pure for seeking God. We don't serve Him just so He can give us things. We seek Him because He is good holy and righteous and to become more like Him. As Christians we should have a eternal perspective, knowing that the things of this world is temporary. The largest house and the most expensive possession will one day be like the dust of the ground. So that's why its important to develop a kingdom mindset and focus on those things that are eternal. If you are struggling in this area, ask God to give you a desire for Him and began to let go of the things that consume you and spend time with God.

4.)A Good heart.
But the ones that fell on good ground are those who having heard the word, with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience Luke 8:15. These are the people who have a heart to please God. Their intentions and motives are good so they are able to receive the word and produce fruit of hundred fold because their hearts are pure. When you have a pure heart you are able to endure trails and stand on the word of God in times of temptation. When you repent and make up in your mind that you will serve God at all cost, and guard your heart with the word of God nothing will stop you from being fruitful. Scripture said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God Matthew 5:8.
