When you are under spiritual attack

 Standing under spiritual attacks

It seems like the whole world is under attack in one way or another. We are not only dealing with the stresses of everyday life, but on top of that we are also dealing with covid-19, which has recently had a major spike in cases and widespread of death and also Racism, injustice and inequality with no current solutions. Living during these un-precedented times has caused  a rise in mental illness and unwanted stress for most people. Our world has changed drastically over the last six months and its been hard on everyone.  We are living in uncertain times and our world is suffering. In just a matter of weeks I've dealt with covid-19 hitting my children, my grandpa passing away, and then my grandma who I was very close too passing away as well and then family issues in between. I'm getting sad just thinking about it.
The enemy wants to use tough situations like this to destroy us, but God uses these times to draw us closer too Him and too strengthen us. If we are not careful we will fall right into the enemies plan, so that is why it is important for us to know how to respond when we are in spiritual attacks. I believe that with everything going on in our world today that most of the world is under a spiritual attack right now. I pray that you would be able to recognize this and over come it.

Today I want to give you four things that you can do when you are facing spiritual attacks.

1.) Fasting and prayer.
When Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted by the devil the bible tells us that He fasted for forty days and forty nights Luke 4:2. He used fasting as a tool to strengthen Himself through the temptation. Fasting is what helps to starve the flesh and draws you closer to God. When you are fasting you are constantly in the presence of God and that eliminates the presence of doubt, fear or any lie that the enemy can tell you. You are choosing to starve that carnal part of you that wants to respond to the temptation and allowing the spiritual side of you to take control. Fasting is a very powerful tactic against the enemy.

2.) Speak God's word.
Going through tough times raises a lot of negative emotions that can cause you to get frustrated and speak negative things about your situation. Be careful not to get caught up in the moment and remember to speak Gods word over you.  When Jesus was being tempted in the wilderness He responded with "It is written" and then He quoted scripture Luke 4:4. We have to do the same when we are going through things, believe God's word and pray the word of God over your situation. Plead the blood of Jesus over your circumstances and approach every situation knowing that Jesus died on the cross so that you can overcome this.

3.)Godly community
You can't do it alone. When you are going through tough times you will need a support system around you. Someone that will pray with you, encourage you, and uplift you. Some one who can give you Godly counsel and be that shoulder that you can cry on as well. The bible says that two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down one can help the other up Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

4.) Encourage others.
Use your situation that you are going through to encourage someone else who maybe facing the same things. Its something about encouraging others when we are going through something that sets us free. It brings pure Joy to know that someone benefits from your situation. Your pain has purpose. The things that we go through in life is not only to help us but it's for those around you as well.

5.) Be still.
Don't exhaust yourself trying to figure things out. Rest in the Lord. Do what you can then allow God to do the rest. Learn your limitations and know that it is okay to be vulnerable and not have all the answers when you are going through hard times. Its okay to cry and to be human. When we are still it allows God to step in and do what only He could do. The bible tells us that when we are weak He is strong 2 Corinthians 12:9.

6.) Guard your heart
You have to guard your heart from things that will make you doubt, things that make you fearful and hopeless. Maybe you have to get off social media, turn off the news,  maybe stop answering the phone or get rid of some people during this season. You have to stay focused on God because the enemy uses situations like this to get you off track.
